Shadowmark is a Chrome extension that provides visual annotation tools for web developers. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data Shadowmark does and does not collect.

Data Collection

Shadowmark does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data.

Specifically, Shadowmark does not collect:

• Personal information (name, email, address)
• Browsing history or web activity
• Cookies or tracking identifiers
• Website content you visit
• Screenshots or page data
• Analytics or usage telemetry

Local Storage

Shadowmark uses Chrome's local storage API solely to save your preferences (such as toolbar settings). This data stays on your device and is never transmitted to any server.

How the Extension Works

When you activate Shadowmark on a webpage:

• It reads DOM element properties (tag names, CSS selectors, computed styles, accessibility attributes) only for elements you explicitly click on.
• All processing happens locally in your browser.
• The "Copy for AI" feature copies annotation data to your clipboard. No data is sent to any external service.

Permissions

Shadowmark requests the following Chrome permissions:

• activeTab — to access the page you're currently viewing when you activate the extension
• scripting — to inject the annotation toolbar into webpages
• storage — to save your preferences locally
• tabs — to detect page navigation for toolbar state management
• Host permissions (all URLs) — to work on any website you choose to annotate

Third Parties

Shadowmark does not share any data with third parties. There are no analytics services, advertising networks, or external APIs integrated into the extension.
